Triumph Torque  /  Spitfire/GT6  /  Twin su carb linkage...help!
Posted by: olib007 (Guest), May 25, 2008, 4:46pm
Can anyone tell me how the link between the two su carbs are supposed to fit, i took them off to fit a heat shield from canleys (which doesnt fit because of the throttle linkage being in the way!) i thought i could manage to do it without the links coming off but that didnt really go to plan

I attached a couple of pic's - one of the carbs, one of the two pieces i have left over which should join the carbs and one of the heat shield

The carbs are hs2's, 1.25"

Also has anyone else fitted heat shields to hs2's and if so which ones?

I presume Oli's has the rod linkage which is the problem?
You could always convert to the later cable like Rob's.

Rob, are you going to put the 2 upper throttle return springs back on? Otherwise I think you'll have a lot of backlash in the mechanism.

check out these guys - they make a heat shield that will accomodate the rod linkage:

by the way, Bobbyspit- where can I pick up the bracket that sits on the manifold for a cable linkage (on a GT6)?

I made a bracket out of a kitchen draw sliding runner-has worked for 18 years. You just need something rigid that you can dril and slot.

I use a Spitfire 1500 cable with a spitfire mk3 throttle pedal.
